ABOUT THE DESIGNER

THE UN-TIE IN THE MEDIA

Patricia Dobine-Brewer is the owner and principal designer of THE UN-TIE. From her home base in Chicago, IL, she creates her one-of-a-kind neck and bow tie designs. Her idea was spawned from a need to replace her income after leaving her job in May of 2012 to become the sole caretaker for her husband, Sherman, who had been diagnosed with Relapsing Multiple Sclerosis.

“The design for this necktie and bow tie hit me like a ton of bricks after watching Steve Harvey on an episode of Family Feud. As Steve was adjusting the necktie of one of his guest, I jumped up and told Sherman, ‘I'm gonna design a necktie!’ He just looked at me and just shook his head."

"Now, I've sewn everything from curtains to prom and wedding dresses, never had sewing lessons, and never made a necktie or bow tie -- so I knew it would be a challenge. I also knew what I created had to be different and special. It took months of trial and error, but I was on to something, I knew I couldn't turn back, now. Finally, I had come up with something that I would be proud to put my name on and I was on my way! My biggest hope is to see my design being worn on the RED CARPET one day!”
